Overdue... Early labour?

So for those of you wondering whats going on.... I am STILL pregnant.  Last Wednesday I went to stay in Saskatoon, saw my doctor on Thursday and he said he figured sometime this week. ( I was due Thursday the 16th) On Sunday I had a good day and felt fine all day, went to church in the morning and then to the church Christmas musical in the evening.  Went to bed around 11:15ish, woke up at 12:30ish not quite feeling right, felt like I needed to go to the bathroom so that is what I did while I was in there I had a very strong contraction which was nothing like what I had been feeling up till now. I thought that I was going to start vomiting, but I didn't.  Made it back to the bedroom and got on my hands and knees to help with the pain, then a second one hit me and they were coming about 5mins apart.  So I told Cheryl and got dressed, she called Mikey and Nicole.   they drove me to the hospital I had a few more in the car and on the way up to labour and delievery and then as soon as I sat down in assessment it all slowed down.  So Nicole and I walked the halls and climbed all the stairs trying to keep it going, Michael got there around 3am and it was becoming apparent that there might not be anything happening tonight.   I was told this was early labour and it could last a couple of days, so they sent us back home at 8:30 AM.   Mike now has some time off and I am back at home in Wilkie.  The wait continues...

  1. Oh Amy. I'm so sorry your little boy is making you wait like this. I can certainly see how it would be discouraging for you to be overdue, away from home, and go into false/early labour like that. I've played the overdue game, and it's no fun - especially when everyone's asking, "What? No baby yet?!"
Jesus knows what's going on, and he has a time for your boy to be born. I was saying to Mikey this afternoon that since the other babies from church all came either early or on their due dates, it seems like your babe is taking forever - but don't let those stats get you down. 75% of births don't happen before or on the due date. The majority of births occur AFTER the date, and I know the wait is long and hard, but he'll come :) I'm glad Mike's at home with you - I hope you have a good time resting and recuperating at home. Praying for you!

  2. Still praying for you guys, Amy Lynn. What Kim said is exactly true. Not easy to believe - but on 'this' side of things it feels like the wait was hardly anything at all.
I'm also glad Mikey can be there with you - enjoy these last few days together before things get super-duper crazy. Sleep in. Take long and luxurious showers or baths - plan what colour you're going to paint your toenails when you can reach them again... all that fun stuff. ;-D
    Love you guys,

  3. I hope it goes awesomely well, Amy! And you've probably heard this a million times already, but maybe you'll have a Christmas baby :) My due date by my LMP was August 31 and my daughter was born on Sept 14. Those two weeks did seem REAALLLY long, but I think I should have enjoyed them more! Probably sounds hard to do, but do what Kendall says - sleep and shower when you want to :)
Best wishes, I'll keep you in my prayers!

  4. ALL my babies were late. Paul was due Dec 25th and arrived January 6th big and healthy. But I do know how cumbersome and long the days can be when you are waiting.
    Praying for you!
